Size Guide

Last updated:

Choosing a size for a pet gift is less about tape measures and more about where the gift will live: the sofa your dog has claimed, the step outside your front door, the mug cupboard or the tree. This guide explains the size and option names you will see on Pawsomely product pages, how to measure the space at home and how to choose between two sizes. The exact dimensions for each product are always listed on that product’s page, because they can differ from design to design.

Size guide at a glance

  • Exact dimensions: shown on each product page next to the size options.
  • Size options you may see: mug capacities such as 11 oz and 15 oz, blanket sizes, doormat sizes, Small / Medium / Large on some designs, and a Number of Pets option.
  • Between two sizes? For blankets and doormats, choose the larger one if the space allows.
  • Wrong size? Exchange it within 60 days of delivery with a free return label.
  • Need advice? Email support@pawsomely.shop with a photo of the space.

How to read the size options

On a product page, the size or option selector appears above the add-to-cart button. The names we use follow common conventions for each product type:

Not every product has every option. If a product page does not show a size selector, the item comes in one size, which is stated in its description.

Blankets: measuring and choosing

Measure the space

  1. Decide where the blanket will be used most: across the back of a sofa, on a bed, in a pet bed, in a car or on a lap.
  2. Measure the width and depth of that surface with a tape measure. For a sofa, measure the seat area your pet actually uses.
  3. Compare those measurements with the dimensions on the product page for each size.

Which size suits which use

  • Smallest size: a pet bed, a crate, a cat’s favourite chair or a lap blanket for a small dog. Light and easy to wash often.
  • Middle size: a throw for the sofa, a snuggle blanket for a person and a medium pet together, or the back seat of a car.
  • Largest size: covering a sofa seat fully, a bed, or a photo blanket where you want the picture to be the star.

Tips for photo blankets

Larger blankets show photos at a bigger scale, so a sharp photo matters more. Choose a bright picture where your pet’s face fills most of the frame. If you have several photos, a larger size gives each one more room. If we think a photo will not look good at the size you chose, we email you before production.

Doormats: measuring and choosing

Measure the doorway

  1. Measure the width of the door frame from the inside edge to the inside edge.
  2. Measure the depth of the step or landing in front of the door, from the threshold to the edge.
  3. Check that the door opens freely over a mat; outward-opening doors and storm doors need a little clearance.

How to choose

  • A doormat usually looks best when it covers most of the door width without overhanging the step.
  • For a narrow apartment hallway, the smaller size keeps the walkway clear.
  • For double doors or a wide porch, the larger size gives names more room and looks more balanced.
  • Several pet names on one mat? The larger size gives each name more space, especially for longer names.

Placement and care

A covered porch protects a doormat from heavy rain and strong sun and helps colours last. Shake or vacuum the mat regularly, spot-clean it with a damp cloth and let it dry flat. Avoid folding mats sharply.

Mugs: choosing a capacity

  • 11 oz: a classic coffee mug. Comfortable to hold, fits most cupboards and coffee machines, good for espresso drinks, tea and smaller servings.
  • 15 oz: a taller, larger mug for people who refill rarely: big lattes, hot chocolate, soup on a cold day. The larger surface also gives photos and names a little more room.

Not sure? Think about the person who will use it. A dog walker who drinks coffee on the go may like the larger size; someone with a small cupboard or a pod coffee machine may prefer the classic size. If your coffee machine has a low spout, check the height listed on the product page.

Ornaments and keepsakes

Ornament and keepsake sizes are listed on each product page. As a guide, smaller ornaments suit compact or tabletop trees and look lovely in groups; larger ornaments stand out on a full-size tree and give photos more room. For keepsakes, consider where they will sit: a desk, a bedside table or a shelf. If you plan to collect an ornament every year, choosing the same size each time makes a neat set.

Choosing the Number of Pets

Many designs can hold more than one pet. Choose the option that matches the number of names or photos you want, then list each name in the order notes in the order you want them to appear. If you choose “2 Pets” but write three names, we email you before production to ask which option you want, and send a payment request for any price difference. Longer names on multi-pet designs are fine, but very long names may be shown in a slightly smaller size so everything fits.

Size scenarios from pet homes

A senior Labrador who sleeps on the sofa

A large dog stretches out, so a blanket that only covers part of the seat ends up on the floor. Measure the seat area and pick the size that covers it with a little to tuck in. A larger blanket also means more room for the dog’s name or photo to be seen while it is in use.

A cat who sleeps in a window bed

Cats love small, defined spaces. The smallest blanket size folded once usually fits a window perch or a cat bed, and it is quick to wash. If you would like the blanket to double as a lap blanket for you, the middle size works for both.

A doormat for an apartment door

Apartment corridors are often narrow, and neighbours need to pass. Measure the width of your door frame and the space in front of it, then choose the smaller doormat if the larger one would stick out into the corridor.

A mug for a vet clinic’s coffee break

Shared kitchens have busy cupboards. The classic 11 oz size stacks and fits most shelves. If the person drinks large mugs of tea through a long shift, the 15 oz size may be the better gift.

Ornaments for a family of four pets

You can choose one ornament with the “4 Pets” option, or four individual ornaments, one for each pet. A single multi-pet ornament keeps the crew together; individual ornaments let each pet have its own spot on the tree and can be added to over the years.

A memorial blanket for a grieving friend

When you do not know where the blanket will be used, the middle size is the gentlest choice: big enough to wrap up in on the sofa, small enough to fold onto a chair or keep near a favourite photo. If it turns out a different size would suit them better, they can exchange it within 60 days of delivery with a free return label.

Measuring tips

  • Use a soft tape measure for curved surfaces such as sofa arms, and a rigid tape or ruler for doorways and steps.
  • Measure twice and write the numbers down before comparing them with the product page.
  • Remember that blankets drape: a blanket slightly larger than a surface hangs naturally over the edges.
  • For doormats, leave a little space between the mat and the edge of the step so it is not a trip hazard.
  • If you are ordering a gift and cannot measure, ask a family member to send you a photo of the space with a familiar object in it, or choose the middle size.

How to choose between two sizes

  • Blankets: choose the larger size if it fits the space; most people use blankets in more places than they expect.
  • Doormats: choose the size that does not overhang your step and does not block the door.
  • Mugs: choose for the drinker’s habits and your cupboard height.
  • Ornaments: choose for the size of the tree and whether a photo is involved.
  • Gifts: when you do not know the recipient’s space, the middle option is usually the safest choice.

If the size is not right

You can exchange any item for another size within 60 days of delivery. Email us with your order number, the new size and the personalization for the new item. We make the new item, ship it free and send you a free return label for the original. If the new size costs more, we send a payment request for the difference first; if it costs less, we refund the difference within 7 days of receiving your return. See our Returns & Exchanges Policy.

Spotted the wrong size right after ordering? Email us within 24 hours and we will switch it before production at no cost; see Cancel or Change an Order.

Exchanges are also the right route if you realise after delivery that you need a different Number of Pets option, for example because a new kitten has joined the family.

A note on measurements

Dimensions on product pages are nominal sizes for each design. Small differences can occur between production runs, and soft items such as blankets can relax slightly after the first wash. Colours can also look a little different on different screens. If a dimension matters to you, for example a doormat for a recessed mat well, email us before ordering and we will check the details for that design.
